These terms apply to everyone who uses chessdepth.in or the services of ChessDepth Academy ("ChessDepth", "we", "us"), based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. By using the website, booking a class, using the Chess Lab or downloading our material, you agree to these terms. If a student is under 18, a parent or guardian accepts these terms on their behalf.
1. Our services
- Classes: live online chess coaching, one-to-one or in small groups, plus fixed-length programmes.
- Chess Lab: online training tools (tactics trainer, Puzzle Streak, opening courses and progress dashboard).
- Shop: digital training material such as PDF worksheets, puzzle collections and plans.
- Free tools and content: the Puzzle of the Day, blog articles, resources and the board editor.
2. Classes and fees
- Fees are shown on our Courses & Fees page and are payable in advance, monthly or per programme, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Class times are agreed with you when you enrol. Your first demo class is free and carries no obligation.
- Rescheduling, missed classes and refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- We may change our fees for future periods. We will tell existing students at least 30 days before a change applies to them.
3. Accounts and the Chess Lab
- You sign in with a Google account. Keep it secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- ChessDepth Academy students can unlock the Chess Lab with their enrollment number. Each number belongs to one student and may be linked to one account only. Sharing it is not allowed.
- Leaderboards are for fair play. Using a chess engine, another person's help or any automated tool to solve puzzles is not allowed, and we may remove scores or access if we see it.
- We may add, change or retire Chess Lab features over time. We will not reduce what academy students have unlocked without notice.
4. Behaviour in classes
We want every class to be friendly and focused. Students and parents agree to treat coaches and other students with respect, to join on time, and not to record classes without our permission. We may end a class or a student's place for repeated misconduct, in which case unused fees are handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
5. Our material and your use of it
- Worksheets, PDFs, course content, videos and the website design belong to ChessDepth Academy and are protected by copyright.
- You may download, print and use our material for your own study. Teachers may use our free material with their own students. You may not resell, republish or share paid material, or upload any of our material to other websites.
- Puzzle positions taken from the Lichess puzzle database are in the public domain (CC0); our selection, explanations and layouts are ours.
6. Other services we use
Some parts of the website rely on other companies, such as Google (sign-in and Firebase), Gumroad (Shop checkout), Lichess (analysis links), Formspree (forms) and WhatsApp. Their own terms apply when you use them. We are not responsible for their services.
7. No guarantees
Chess improvement depends on practice and many other factors, so we cannot guarantee a particular rating, result or title. The website and free tools are provided "as is". We work to keep them accurate and available, but they may sometimes contain mistakes or be unavailable.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, ChessDepth Academy is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when our services change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell enrolled students by WhatsApp or email.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
